Abstract

Various fields for research in speech processing arespeech recognition, speaker recognition, speech synthesis, speechcoding etc. The objective of automatic speaker identification is toextract, characterize and recognize the information aboutspeakeridentity. The biometric information in general and one's voice inparticular are of such means; therefore a text-independent speakeridentification system was built for this concern. Thispaperis itsimplementation using LabVIEW on National InstrumentsCompactRIO, a control and acquisition system powered byreconfigurable I/O field-programmable gate array (FPGA)technology. The Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC)technique is used for feature extraction from the voice, VectorQuantization (VQ) technique for feature modeling, and theminimum distance classifier for the feature matching. Thus thissystem identifies the user in runtime with high accuracy.
