Design and Implementation of Legal Gennie: A Retrieval- Augmented Multilingual Legal Advisory System

Abstract

Legal Gennie is an AI-powered regional intelligent legal advisor designed to provide accessible and reliable legal guidance in multiple Indian regional languages. The system integrates a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture with FAISS- based vector similarity search to efficiently retrieve relevant legal information from trusted repositories, including the Indian Constitution, statutory provisions, legal commentaries, and official government documents. By combining advanced natural language understanding with domain-specific legal datasets, Legal Gennie can interpret and respond to complex or ambiguous queries with clarity. Its core functionalities include multilingual support, simplified legal explanations for non-expert users, access to standardized legal document templates, curated legal blogs, and real-time legal news updates. The platform aims to bridge the gap in legal accessibility for rural and underserved communities, fostering greater legal awareness and empowerment.
