Abstract

Helical tubes are universally used in applications ranging from ocean engineering, to waste heat recovery equipment in power plants. It has been long recognized by the researchers that heat transfer characteristics of helical tubes are much higher than that in the straight tubes. The former is because of the occurrence of secondary fluid flow in plane normal to the primary fluid flow and the latter is because of the curvature effect of helical tubes. As helical tube-coil geometries are commonly used for various industrial applications but flow through conical tube-coil geometries is still under research..
